“A DAO that is going to actually save the world.”
Welcome to Issue 004 of Metaversian News.
Next week I will be introducing a referral program where you can earn limited edition NFTs when you recommend this newsletter to your friends and family.
So, don't share this issue with anyone.
Just enjoy it for yourself.
You'll want to get your referrals next week ;)
Let's go!
Building the Metaverse
“It ain’t gonna build itself.”
While building and exploring the metaverse, it's important to be safe.
I haven't heard of any viruses yet, but there are lots of scams, and maybe worse.
In the regular ol' web2.0, it seems like every day we hear about a new website data breach.
Most of them tend to be online retailers, games, or social media sites.
But soon, it will be parts of the metaverse.
I've been a big proponent of personal cybersecurity and privacy for a long time and I've done a lot of research over the years.
To help you stay safe, I've put together my entire tech stack for security, as well as the why and the how.
This will be the only guide you need to stay safe while building and exploring the metaverse.

Metaverse Events
“Meet me in the metaverse.”
I'm sending this email out an hour earlier than usual because I wanted you to have time to get in on a cool event.
It's not happening *in* the metaverse, which is usually what this space is reserved for.
But it is a launch of a new DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) for people like me who actually care about the environment.
It's called Earth 2070 and it's being launched by CYBR Magazine.
You can think of this kind of like a donation based charity, but not "legally" a charity.
The simple way of explaining it is: you buy an NFT and you become a member of the DAO.
DAO membership allows you to a voice/vote in where the money raised from NFT sales is spent.
And the money goes towards real world technology projects that are working towards improving Earth's climate.
Go get your $XTZ Tezos ready.
The launch will be here at 11 AM US Eastern:

NFT News
“All the news that’s fit to mint.”
The first NFT I ever bought was CyberKidz Club. My first mint was also a CyberKidz Club.
The art was what caught my eye, but the lore is what got me interested.
The community is what got me to buy.
This past week, they sold out of all 6666 mints, so I thought I'd showcase them as builders of the metaverse.
I asked a few questions and here's what they shared:
== Begin CyberKidz Club ==
We started the CyberKidz Club because we wanted to bring something fresh to Tezos! And there was no better way to do that than releasing a project that has been in the making for many years! Us creators, we used to live together during our college years, and back then we used to draw the CyberKidz even before we came up with the concept behind the CyberKidz. These drawings used to be a symbol of our group, and we would go around drawing these in many classroom desks and walls throughout the campus. Then in 2021, when we were developing our first ideas for the generative project, we decided to use these characters that we used to draw and create a whole project and story behind them.
The CyberKidz Club is the first low-cost, generative PFP (profile picture) project on Tezos. While most other projects would settle their mint price at around 10-20 Tezos, we were keen on making something actually affordable and highly collectable for anybody to join in on the fun, so 3 tezos was the perfect amount to do that.
Also, CyberKidz Club offers something very different from most other projects, since every major decision is discussed amongst the members of the community and voted on through polls in our Discord! This allows us to build the project the way our holders want to see it built!
Another very positive mechanic we have developed is the CyberKidz club art-fund. We allocated 10% of the mint revenue from our project, and also 50% of royalties and 100% of the revenue from any official project-sponsored auction towards this art-fund! Over 2500 Tezos have been pledged towards developing this, and every week we spend 200 Tezos on art curated, created and voted on by our holders!
We have many plans for the future of CyberKidz! Most of these will be revealed in the next couple of weeks but, spoiler alert, we´re working on the development of three derivative collections which include mutated CyberKidz, CyberKidz roomz, and CyberKidz Club gen 2! Another thing we are currently laying out the foundations for is our metaverse, which we can´t make any promises, but we guarantee we are opening conversations with Tezos developers and video game developers to help make this dream of ours a reality!
The CyberKidz Art-Fund has also been a huge success, so we also have plans on expanding both the funding and the scale of this initiative.
== End CyberKidz Club ==
Metaverse (& NFT) Marketing
“Web3 is already an oversaturated market; here’s how you stand out.”
While working on the newsletter today, I saw this tweet and loved it:
It's 100% true.
Most success comes from consistency because the reality is most people will not sustain their own consistency.
Because of that, you will be ahead of anyone you are more consistent than.
An example is this newsletter.
This is the fourth issue, and each issue other than the first one has had unsubscribes.
Despite that, the total subscribers have grown by about 10% from each previous issue.
If I keep going, that will improve.
But if I stop, growth stops.
Consistency is the key.
Be consistent with your marketing and you will go places.

“Life is only a dream, and the metaverse is an extension of ourselves.”
I thought the Microsoft Hololens wasn't going to happen and had kind of forgotten about it to be honest.
But this awesome musical instrument has brought my interest back.
I like to make unique music and I use anything I can find to do it.
I'm always looking for something new to add.
The weirder the better.
Here we have a Hololens app based on the theremin, which is an instrument commonly heard in retro sci-fi films but you probably know it better from The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations."
Although this app is based on the idea of the theremin, theoretically it could operate with any sound you could possibly think of.
If you've ever seen a Blue Man Group performance (do it!), you could imagine how amazing it would be to add one of these to their show.
While they're wearing the Hololens and performing, we could be seeing what they see via a big screen behind them.
Unfortunately this was posted in May of 2021, so almost a year ago.
Which means this could all be far abandoned by now.

Touch Grass
“So we don’t lose touch with reality.”
This week I went to a soft-opening of a restaurant that is new to my area.
If you ever get the chance to do that: do it!
The way it worked was that it was friends and family of the employees only.
There was a preset menu to choose from and it was all paid for (we left a tip for the server of course).
A free meal is always great but the best part was feeling like a restaurant reviewer.
My friends and I got to be hyper critical of everything and write down our thoughts in a questionnaire.
The food was great, our server was great, the whole thing was cool.
And I got to hang out with two of my closest friends.
I did not touch any grass, but I did touch a metal cactus.
See you next week,
